Who We Are
Mission: To establish a community-based education support program that utilize the collective resources, skills and talents of members of the community to support and prepare youth in the community for post-secondary educational advancement.
The Washtenaw Educational Metrics Institute is a community based program designed enable students and parents from under-served communities in Washtenaw County to develop knowledge and skills that will enable them to successfully navigate the complex process of post secondary education. We believe that all youth in Washtenaw County should have equitable access to opportunities and resources for educational enrichment and advancement to post-secondary for personal, family, community, and socio-economic wellbeing.
What We Do
The Washtenaw Educational Metrics Institute provides assistance to students and families from underserved communities in gaining knowledge and skills in navigating the post secondary education process. This involves on-line test taking practices sessions in addition to educational modules on various topics related to college applications, financial aid, researching college or other post secondary education facilities, essay writing, and study habits. The goal is to impart skills that are useful not only in applying to post secondary institutions but also equipping them with skills to remain successful once they enter their institution of choice.
