Who We Are
Mission: To transform the lives and futures of children and adults with unique and special needs through equestrian activities.
Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (TRI) is an Ann Arbor volunteer-based non-profit and we aim to provide a therapeutic environment through horseback riding and other activities for people with disabilities or other challenges. Our vision is to provide safe, progressive, sustainable, effective equine programs responsive to community needs. We were founded in 1984 and moved to our current 46-acre farm in 2010. Our staff of professional therapeutic riding instructors and our team of over 100 dedicated volunteers bring the joy of horseback riding to 80-100 riders each week.
What We Do
TRI provides group and private horseback riding lessons to riders ages 4 and up. Our riders have a wide variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Volunteers work under the direction of PATH Intl. certified instructors to assist our riders. Volunteers 18 years and older must pass a background check prior to volunteering. Our herd of horses are specially trained to accommodate our riders.
