Who We Are

Mission: To increase postsecondary readiness, enrollment, and attainment so all students in Detroit can achieve their educational dreams.

The Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) is a collaborative network between local schools, organizations, and the community. DCAN serves as the citywide coordinating body for the college access and enrollment strategies in Detroit. We are a network of organizations–bigger than any one program or initiative–using collective impact to align and connect existing programs, schools, businesses and community resources to improve college enrollment and graduation rates for all Detroit students. In solidarity with the State of Michigan, Michigan College Access Network and Detroit Drives Degrees, our goal is for 60% of Detroit residents to achieve a form of postsecondary education by 2030.

What We Do

  • We are building a college-going culture by promoting knowledge about 2- and 4-year college programs, skilled trade schools, and credentialing opportunities.
  • We are supporting students in their research and pursuit of postsecondary options that match their passions, talents, and goals.
  • We are providing relevant development opportunities to support the college access professionals who advise and assist students in their journey.
