The Serve Detroit Snow Team is a city-led volunteer effort to help seniors and residents with disabilities in cases a Snow Emergency (6 inches or more) to clear snow from walkways.
Volunteers must be 16 or older. Those under 16 must volunteer with a supervised group or adult.
-
Volunteers do not need to live in Detroit. Tools are available upon request.
-
Volunteers are paired with a resident for the full snow season, typically within or near their selected district.
-
In the event of a snow emergency (6 inches or more), volunteers will be notified by text or email, usually 3–4 days in advance when possible.
-
Snow shoveling services should be completed within 24 hours of notification.
-
Residents are notified of their volunteer pairing, so no direct contact is required when providing service.
