What Is Ele's Place?

Ele's Place is a healing center for grieving children, teens, young adults, and their families. Each week, peer-to-peer bereavement support groups help hundreds learn to cope and begin to heal after the death of a parent, sibling, or someone close to them. 

What Do Support Groups Look Like?

Groups vary from week to week depending on the needs and interests of group members. Volunteers choose from a database of activities, which include scripts and supplies provided by Ele's Place. Activities may include:

  • Arts and crafts projects
  • Journaling
  • Group discussions
  • Mindfulness exercises
  • Board games
  • Icebreakers

We're Currently Looking for Support with the Following Groups:

  • PreK and Kindergarten
  • Early Elementary (1st-3rd Grade)
  • Upper Elementary (4th-5th Grade)
  • Middle School (6th-8th Grade)
  • High School (9th-12th Grade

Volunteers Will:

  • Co-facilitate a weekly support group from 5:45pm to ~8:30pm
  • Have availability on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights from September to June
  • Work with another volunteer to plan and facilitate weekly activities
  • Pass a background check
  • Attend all 2025 Winter Training Dates
  • Be supervised and supported by licensed clinicians. No prior experience needed!

Our comprehensive training, includes:

5 hrs of asynchronous training modules

2  sessions of asynchronous Zoom trainings (3.5 hrs each)

5 hrs of on-site training at our Ann Arbor office

Note: Participation in all training dates is mandatory
