Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency partners with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan to help provide nutritious food and resources to families in the community. Through this partnership, food distributions are organized to support families experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers help by assisting with setup, organizing food, and supporting the distribution process to ensure families are served in a welcoming and efficient way.

The Parent Volunteer Nutrition Aide Program allows parents and guardians to assist with food service and nutrition activities while receiving flexible scheduling and hands-on experience. Volunteers support meal service operations while learning about nutrition, safety, and CACFP compliance.

PURPOSE OF JOB: Plan party theme and purchase party supplies for children living at an emergency shelter. Able to raise or provide their own funds to purchase party supplies.

Plan party theme, decorations, and activities (i.e. Space Exploration, Beach Bash, Sports, or Art Extravaganza) Plan small bags of party favors (no food or candy may be in these bags for safety) Estimate expenses and collect funds Purchase supplies for: Party decorations. The room in which the party will take place has three long 6 ft tables and one round table if you want to buy table coverings. Party activity supplies, enough for 20 children. Party favor bag supplies, enough for 20 children. Assemble party favor bags. Put all party supplies into one box. Email to arrange box pick-up
