Summer 2026:
Seasons of Caring
Give Students a Better Back-To-School

Support educational success for students across our region by participating in volunteer opportunities focused on learning and school readiness. Throughout the summer and back-to-school season, opportunities will be posted here that help students start the school year prepared and confident.
Volunteer Reader with Washtenaw Promise
Volunteers are needed for the Read with Kids program during the fall and winter. The program focuses on reading and literacy and is designed to give students an opportunity for more one-on-one or small group reading time with an adult. This is a weekly, one-hour commitment.

DIY Kits with United Way
In our region, nearly 40% of families struggle to afford their basic needs. The percentage of families without access to critical resources is rising. That includes the ability to provide learning tools at home that boost children's performance in school and bring families together for educational activities.
United Way offers several DIY kit opportunities for volunteers to purchase supplies and assemble kits that are then delivered directly to a community partner.
