Pulaski Elementary/Middle School is located about 1/2 mile south of Eight Mile at the southwest corner of Strasburg and East State Fair. The building opened in the early 1940’s has a total of 62,000 square feet.
Casimir Pulaski for whom the school is named was a Polish American patriot who was born in 1747, some 40 miles outside of Warsaw, Poland. On George Washington’s recommendation the Continental Congress appointed Pulaski general of the American Cavalry during the American Revolutionary War. Pulaski wrote, “I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it and to live or die for it.” He died in 1779 fighting for American Independence at the Battle of Savannah in Georgia. The 32 year old Polish Commander was buried at sea. We honor him as a solider of liberty for all.
