Who We Are

Mission: To empower Michigan kids to reach their highest level of academic achievement in reading and math.

At Michigan Education Corps, we bring firsthand knowledge of the education landscape. Our team includes current and former educators, school administrators, support staff, and civic leaders—united by a shared passion for supporting students and helping them reach their full potential. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and are committed to ensuring every child in Michigan has access to the tools they need to succeed.

What We Do

Michigan Education Corps provides evidence-based reading and math interventions for children from age three through eighth grade. Through our partnership with AmeriCorps, trained interventionists deliver personalized support directly in schools and classrooms:

  • PreK Reading Corps: Full-time AmeriCorps members provide literacy-rich interventions to preschoolers through classroom-wide and individualized support.

  • K-3 Reading Corps: Interventionists work one-on-one with 15–18 students daily, using 20-minute sessions to strengthen foundational reading skills.

  • Math Corps (Grades 4–8): AmeriCorps members support 24 students weekly with targeted math interventions in pairs for 90 minutes total.

Each program is grounded in data-driven decision-making, high-quality training, and ongoing coaching. Our goal is simple but powerful: to ensure every Michigan student has the opportunity to thrive in school—and in life.
