Who We Are
Mission: To provide programs and services which enable members to remain an active and integral part of the community and to empower them to retain their independence, dignity, and sense of well-being.
The Dexter Senior Center began serving the Greater Dexter Area in 1971. It continues to be a place to enjoy companionship, be entertained, become fit, and improve overall health and sense of wellbeing. It is a place where members feel comfortable and valued.
We are currently located (on the main floor) at the Dexter Wellness Center. On the lot in front of the Wellness Center, our own 9,000 sq. ft. building is being constructed and will be completed in 2025. The Dexter Senior Center will have our own building and with the Multigenerational Community Center (Wellness Center) will serve the entire community!
What We Do
The Center offers a variety of activities designed to improve the quality of life. These include exercise and complementary therapies, arts and crafts, musical groups, lifelong learning and the simple pleasure of cards and games with friends.
Volunteerism is active, inviting members to share their skills and help in activities. The Center was the among the first in Washtenaw County to offer hot lunches and Meals on Wheels has continuously provided meals to our homebound members five days a week.
