Helping Detroit's Homeless

Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, the Pope Francis Center provides vital services to nearly 200 Detroiters experiencing chronic homelessness each day.

We welcome guest from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday – Saturday for two nutritious meals, access to hot showers and grooming services, laundry facilities and housing assistance. Guests also receive free medical, dental and legal support through rotating clinics. Bike repair and mail services are also provided.

As a volunteer in the "Serve & Support" role at the Pope Francis Center, you will do a little bit of everything - chopping and assisting with meal preparation, serving food and drinks, passing out toiletries and other essential items, greeting guests, and more. When you arrive at the Center for a shift, you will check in with our staff who will assign your tasks for the day and walk you through the volunteer experience.
