Who We Are

Mission: To advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in our community.

Wayne County CASA provides a voice for abused and neglected children in Juvenile Court proceedings through highly trained community volunteers. We recruit, train, and support dedicated volunteers who serve as sworn officers of the Court, ensuring that every child has a voice in Juvenile Court proceedings. We believe that every child deserves a safe, loving, and permanent home where they can thrive, and we are committed to making that belief a reality through our advocacy and community engagement.

What We Do

Wayne County CASA recruits, screens, trains, and supervises CASA volunteers. A CASA volunteer is a member of the community who becomes a sworn officer of the Court. A jurist (judge or referee) appoints a CASA volunteer as a special advocate to represent the best interest of an abused or neglected child in a court proceeding.

CASA volunteers are ordinary citizens (no specific background is needed) who care about the well-being of vulnerable children in our community. A CASA volunteer must be 21 years or older, submit to an extensive screening process (including background screens), complete 30 hours of pre-service training, spend 10-15 hours/month on a case, and commit to remaining with their child until they are discharged from their case.
