Who We Are
Mission: To empower young women to achieve emotional and economic self-sufficiency by ensuring they graduate from high school and begin their college or career journeys.
Girls Group began because one woman chose not to sit idly by and watch young women’s futures be decided for them. She believed that with the right support, even the most disadvantaged young women could graduate high school, get to and through college, and become economically and emotionally self-sufficient. She believed that if she cared, others would care too. She was right.
What We Do
Programming spans middle school, high school, and continues through college and careers. Participants are mentored by experienced staff and interns. Year-round comprehensive programming focuses on academic readiness, social/emotional life skills, financial education, and community service.
Girls Group helps participants to stay in school, develop a college mindset, graduate from high school, become first-generation college students, and create lives with successful careers and healthy relationships. Our 20-year history clearly demonstrates that involvement with Girls Group changes the trajectory of a student’s life, and positively impacts future generations.
