Who We Are

At the Work and Play Disability Community Center, we create opportunities for connection, growth, and joy. Through inclusive programs, advocacy, and community support, we empower individuals with developmental disabilities and their families—because everyone deserves to belong.

What We Do

The Work and Play Disability Community Center is a welcoming hub for individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, and Down syndrome. We create inclusive, adaptive programs that empower individuals, support families, and build a stronger, more connected community.

From social-emotional learning and adaptive dance and cheer to life skills workshops, support groups, and sensory-friendly community events, all of our programs are thoughtfully designed and volunteer-led. Our services are open to kids, teens, and adults of all abilities and are updated regularly with seasonal favorites and new opportunities.

We proudly serve families across Michigan.

Volunteer With Us

Change a Life – Start With an Hour

Our programs only exist because compassionate people like you step up. Through our Work and Play Volunteer Program, you can make a real difference—whether you have an hour a week or a day a month.

You don’t need experience—just a heart to serve. Volunteers help with:

  • Art projects

  • Adaptive cheer and dance

  • Life skills sessions

  • Community outings

  • Cooking classes

  • Event setup

  • And simply being a buddy

When you show up, you change a life—and we promise, you’ll walk away changed too.
