Making Spirits Bright

Mission: To spark a love of reading by providing free, high-quality books to children and families across Metro Detroit.

Founded by a group of passionate individuals who recognized the transformative power of books, MSB started by collecting and distributing books to children in underserved communities. MSB is known as the Metro Detroit Book Bank. This initiative focuses on the collection, sorting, and redistribution of books to children, schools, and community organizations.

MSB helps with literacy access, particularly for children from lower-income families who may not have the resources to build their own home libraries. MSB partners with local schools, community centers, and organizations to deliver books directly to the hands of children, offering them the opportunity to select books that is meaningful to them and help their reading skills

The organization helps children, families, and schools in Southeast Michigan, with a focus on communities where access to educational resources is limited. MSB is working to create a future where every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed through the power of reading and learning!

Through a variety of programs and partnerships, MSB works to make sure that every child has the opportunity to build a home library, develop literacy skills, and gain access to the educational resources they need to succeed!
