Mission: To ensure that every child within Washtenaw County enters kindergarten prepared and ready to succeed by providing resources, advocacy, and initiatives that support early childhood development.
Washtenaw Success by 6 Great Start Collaborative brings together parents and community partners to support young children and their families in achieving key early childhood outcomes. We coordinate work groups focused on pediatric health, social-emotional development, school readiness, early education, and literacy, and offer parent engagement through the Great Start Parent Coalition. Through partnerships and free tools like developmental screenings, family resource directories, and community events such as Touch-a-Truck, we help families access the support they need to ensure children are healthy and ready to thrive in school.
What We Do
We collaborate with more than 40 local organizations to identify service gaps, improve coordination, and remove barriers for families with young children in Washtenaw County. Guided by community input, a shared strategic plan, and ongoing needs assessments, we work to ensure every child starts school ready to succeed. Our efforts are supported by local and state funders, including the United Way, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, and the Michigan Department of Education’s Office of Great Start.
