Who We Are
Mission: To preserve US warbird aviation heritage and educate the public about the historic importance of these aircrafts.
The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force and a volunteer-led nonprofit organization with a proud legacy dating back to 1941. Formed by civilian aviation enthusiasts eager to serve their country, CAP has evolved into a national force supporting emergency response, youth development, and aerospace education. Today, CAP continues to uphold its mission through community service and its commitment to developing future leaders.
What We Do
Aerospace Education
CAP promotes aerospace knowledge through internal training for cadets and senior members and external programs for educators. These initiatives inspire interest in STEM fields and provide free classroom resources to thousands of students and teachers nationwide.
Cadet Programs
Serving youth ages 12 to 21, CAP’s cadet program combines leadership training, physical fitness, aerospace education, and moral development. Cadets can earn scholarships, solo flight opportunities, and participate in national and international leadership experiences.
Emergency Services
CAP performs 85% of inland search-and-rescue missions in the U.S., supports disaster relief and humanitarian aid, and provides logistical and communication support to agencies such as FEMA and the Red Cross. CAP also assists with Air Force training and missions, including counterdrug operations.
