Who We Are
Mission: To enhance quality of life in Washtenaw County by providing inclusive, high-quality parks, trails, and recreational opportunities, while preserving natural and cultural resources for current and future generations.
Since 1973, Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation has been dedicated to enriching the lives of residents and visitors by providing high-quality recreational opportunities and preserving natural spaces. Supported by community engagement and strong voter support, Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation is a testament to the county’s deep appreciation for its parks.
What We Do
Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation manages over 15,000 acres of land across 15 parks and 40 nature preserves, offering everything from water parks and playgrounds to serene hiking trails and wildlife observation. We also protect more than 1,600 acres of farmland through conservation easements and lead the development of the county’s Border-to-Border Trail (B2B), a premier non-motorized trail system. Through our diverse recreational amenities and nature programs, we strive to connect people with the outdoors and enhance quality of life across Washtenaw County.
