Giving back is a way of life for PwC. The international audit, tax and consulting company - with Greater Michigan offices housed in downtown Detroit - encourages its staff to give of their time and dollars in ways that are meaningful to them, making a huge impact in their own communities.

In fiscal year 2016 alone, PwC Greater Michigan gave more than $1M in contributions and more than 9,000 hours of their time to local causes.

PwC Greater Michigan provides employees with 10 work hours per year just for volunteering. The company also hosts sponsored activities, including two market-wide volunteer days each year, mobilizing more than 450 partners and staff to volunteer at their choice of 10 volunteer activities.

United Way Partnership: Mentoring Students

One of their partnerships is with United Way for Southeastern Michigan, connecting PwC with United Way Turnaround School Hamtramck High School to offer mentoring and engagement opportunities for students. This work encourages students to think about their futures, strengthens their career-building skills, and gives them one-on-one mentoring with business professionals.

Over the past two and a half years, 85 PwC Greater Michigan employees have participated in 11 events at Hamtramck High. The company launched its third annual partnership at the school for the 2015-16 school year, where they exclusively lead and support all academic engagement opportunities. This year's partnership encompasses four education-focused projects between October 2015 and April 2016, including mock job interviews, report card conferences and FAFSA assistance events.

Additionally, the PwC planning team works directly with Hamtramck to identify any new educational opportunities or needs that may arise at the school.
