The Adopt-A-Family program has brightened the Holidays for thousands of local families for over twenty years. Last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County partnered with more than sixty businesses to provide families and individuals with a memorable holiday season! Our ability to provide this opportunity for families and to maintain its success is due to the continued support and generosity of individuals like you, who have donated food, personal care items, new clothes, games and toys to our families, who might not otherwise have gifts to open! This year we are hoping to increase the number of families that we can serve through this program, with your support. Here’s how you can help:
Gather together your friends, family members, neighbors and/or co-workers to solicit their help in providing a family with a brighter Holiday season!!
There are three ways in which you can provide a family with an amazing holiday to remember:
Option 1: Let me know the number of individuals that you would be able to sponsor for Holiday gifts. I will provide you with an individualized “wish list” of items, which we ask each donor to use in determining their shopping list. Then schedule a drop off/pick up day/time with me from Wednesday, December 3rd through Monday, December 15th so that we can deliver items to families in time for the Holidays.
Option 2: Donate a basket or baskets of non-perishable Holiday food, and/or a basket or baskets of practical household items, such as cleaning supplies, laundry soap etc., that we will deliver to our families. These are items that many families often go without during the Holiday Season. We suggest and encourage that items are donated in a sturdy laundry basket for easier and safer delivery. And just like the traditional wish lists, schedule a drop off/pick up day/time with me from Wednesday, December 3rd through Monday, December 15th.
Option 3: Monetary donations are welcome. BBBS will use the donations to “fill in the gaps” for any family that may be lacking needed items from their wish lists that were not provided by the donor. Donations are also used for ‘emergency’ wish lists for families that are suddenly facing hardships during the holiday season. Please drop off or mail checks to Big Brothers Big Sisters, attention Graham Parker, Adopt- A-Family program.
We hope that you will join us in making the holidays a little brighter for the children and families that we serve.
