Description

Once a year, on the second Sunday in June (this year June 12), Food Gatherers holds a large fundraiser called “Grillin’ for Food Gatherers”. This community picnic welcomes nearly 2,000 guests at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. Featuring live music, delicious food from more than 50 local restaurants, beer and wine, a food-inspired silent auction and kids' games – it’s the best party of the year! The funds raised from Grillin' help keep Food Gatherers' trucks on the road all year long.

This event helps raise more than $200,000 (that's 600,000+ meals) for Food Gatherers.

Interested in volunteering at Grillin'?

Volunteers work from 1:45pm-8:30pm . There are many different rolls at Grillin'- Please review our job descriptions to tell us how you'd like to help. 

When: Sunday, June 12, 2016  event time, 3-8 PM (rain or shine!), volunteer time 1:45-8:30pm. 

Where: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds (5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103)

Requirements: 

  • Volunteers must be 14 years or older.
  • You must be available for the entire shift- 1:45pm-8:30PM. We know this is asking a lot, but it ensures that the event runs smoothly from start to finish. You will get breaks during your shift and can enjoy the music, food and silent auction.
  • If you are new to Grillin' volunteering, we suggest you attend one of our orientation sessions. These will be held at our warehouse (1 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor MI 48105) on Monday, June 6 at 6PM and  6:30 PM and Tuesday June 7 at 6PM and 6:30PM. 
  • Ability to smile while on your feet for long periods of time (gatekeepers smile while sitting!).
  • Flexibility- this event is a big production and sometimes tasks are adjusted or plans are changed. We need you to be open to possible improvisations, such as rain plans. The event will still happen if it rains, and we will still need your help!
