Show some love to Buhr Park! Join the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program for an afternoon gardening workday focused on caring for the planted areas near the pool, ice arena and memorial garden.

Buhr Park is a large 39-acre park in southeast Ann Arbor with many recreation amenities, including softball diamonds, tennis courts, a playground, open fields, picnic areas, an outdoor pool and the Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena. The park also includes stormwater features such as rain gardens and wet meadows, with the goal of being a zero-runoff area.

During this event, volunteers will help maintain the front entrance beds near the swimming pool and ice arena by removing bindweed, crabgrass and other unwanted growth. Volunteers may also help in the memorial garden by cutting back small tree growth by hand and completing other light garden cleanup tasks.

This hands-on work helps keep highly visible entrance areas looking cared for and welcoming for pool users, ice arena visitors, park neighbors and community members who enjoy Buhr Park throughout the year.

No prior gardening experience is necessary — staff will provide tools, supplies, training and guidance on site.

Come lend a hand and help spruce up Buhr Park!
