Help a Child Start School Ready!
Make a difference this school year by building a backpack filled with school essentials for a child in our community! Gather your family, coworkers, or classmates, shop for supplies, and pack a backpack that will help a student feel prepared and excited for the first day of school. It’s a simple way to give back, have fun, and help a child start the school year with confidence! Best of all, you can participate from anywhere.
Purpose of Job:
Plan and purchase back-to-school supplies and put them in a backpack. Backpacks will go to either children and youth served by our Housing Services or school-based Whole Family Support Services. Volunteers need to be able to raise or provide their own funds to purchase supplies.
Time Commitment Required:
2 hours estimated to complete job duties.
Duties:
1. Collect funds for purchasing the below supplies.
- Back Pack
- 24 Pack Pencils
- Pencil Sharpener
- 24-Pack Crayons
- Loose-leaf paper
Optional Supplies:
- 12 Color Pencil Pack
- Folder(s) or 3-ring binder(s)
- Scissors
- Calculator
Hand Sanitizer Liquid or Wipes
2. Put Supplies into the backpack
3. Email volunteers@waynemetro.org to arrange backpack drop-off.
Qualifications:
Able to raise or provide own funds to purchase kit supplies

REMOTE = You may do this volunteer job anywhere!
