Hands for Detroit and Urban Neighborhood Initiatives are teaming up on Saturday, October 7th, to sustain and maintain happy, safe, and prospering public spaces in Southwest Detroit.
Join us, as a team, to make a difference in the community by maintaining public Green Spaces, Michigan’s first Community Court, and the All Saints Community Center.
Activities: include but are not limited to: clean-up, weeding, landscaping, mowing, weed whacking, leveling, raking, and shoveling. The scope of work is vast, but volunteers can plan on outdoor landscaping work, clean-up and physical labor as well as indoor cleanup (potentially painting). One or two groups will be working indoors. Additionally, we accommodate to volunteers needs and skills.
Apparel & Equipment: volunteers should bring jeans/work pants, shoes/boots, shirt (short or long sleeve) that they are OK with getting dirty. UNI provides tools, water, gloves, sunscreen, and safety glasses. Volunteers are should bring coffee, snacks and other accessories as they wish.
Saturday, October 7th – 9:00 am till 3:00 pm (Volunteers do not need to stay the entire day, but we suggest arriving at 9:00am for a group briefing)
