JOURNi is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to technology education for metro Detroit Youth. We have worked with Detroit schools, community centers, and other local organizations to teach our curriculum, and our programs have been highly influential in supporting youth to pursue technology careers.
We are looking for computer science volunteers for our Youth Technology Exploration on March 24th. It is our first event of the year that is open to the entire public in metro Detroit, so we are especially keen on garnering your support. Anybody with prior web development, html, coding experience, or even an ability to pick-up technical skills quickly can be a volunteer.
Please reach out for any questions you have.
***Event Description***
All youth 8-18 in metro Detroit are invited to come to JOURNi’s first ever technology exposition! We will introduce you to web design, building blocks with digital legos (Little Bits, littlebits.cc), and MIT coding tools (Scratch, https://scratch.mit.edu/). For more advanced attendees, we’ll have other awesome things to do (maybe Python, Rubo on Rails, or Github, depending on what you students want).
You’ll have an opportunity to explore technology, network with tech leaders, and get a chance to know your local tech community. Plus, there’ll be snacks. So register today, as spots are limited!
