Description

An event that honors Mattie McKinney Hatchett's, a community activist and leader who served on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, made history as the first African American woman to serve as President of the Michigan Association of Counties, as a trustee on the Pontiac School Board, and even served as Pontiac’s Deputy Mayor. Her Pontiac home now serves as a welcoming place for the community through Brilliant Cities/Pontiac. A neighborhood-based model delivering supplemental educational resources through literacy, health, family support, and bringing neighbors together in a space to call home.

Volunteers are needed to help provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for community participants, manage giveaway stations, help with food set-up and distribution, help set-up sample program stations and more!
