Description

NPower creates pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities.

NPower's programming is completely free to trainees and consists of 16 weeks of in-classroom sessions (currently virtual), followed by a 7-week paid internship in a relevant field. Trainees leave the program with CompTIA certification, ready for free entry-level positions in IT across Southeastern Michigan.

NPower offers a wide range of opportunities for volunteers to engage in high impact, meaningful experiences
with the veterans, military spouses and young adults from underserved communities enrolled in our free tech training program here in Michigan.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Guest Lecturer: serve as a subject matter expert or share your career journey
  • Workshop Facilitator: facilitate workshops on tech topics. NPower can provide curriculum and guidance for volunteers.
  • Mentor: Help guide a student starting their career in IT
  • Site Visit: Host students at your corporate office and provide insight into your experience with your company or in your field (can be done virtually!)
  • Tutor: Review class materials and prepare students for certification tests.
  • Resume consultation: Help students polish their resumes and online presence.
  • Mock Interviews: Prepare students for interviews in technical fields

NPower staff will work with volunteers to schedule volunteers sessions, however most professional development lectures and workshops take place on Thursdays. NPower staff will also share curriculum, guidelines, and other information with volunteers.

Sign up today to help NPower students develop into successful IT professionals!

NPower is also seeking companies and organizations for paid internship placements.
