Description

Age Group: Ages 8-11 (3rd-5th Grade)

Description: We Care is a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program that’s goal is to prevent elementary students from becoming a victim or perpetrator of abuse by building upon social-emotional learning skills through mutli-model and experiential lessons. 

Topics covered: 

  • Self-Esteem
  • Recognizing Feelings 
  • Understanding Feelings 
  • Responding to Feelings  
  • Body Language 
  • Stress: healthy and unhealthy
  • Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships 
  • Safe  Spaces
  • Trusted Adults 
  • Coping 
  • Personal Boundaries 
  • Accepting “No” 

What volunteering will look like: 

  • Teaching 4-6 lessons that are 25-45 minutes in length each
  • Lessons scheduled once or twice a week for 3-6 weeks  

Skills needed:

  • Classroom and conflict management skills  
  • Prior teaching and facilitation experience 
  • Ability to provide an engaging environment for students 
  • Confidence to deliver sensitive topic information to students
