Ypsilanti Housing Commission

Mission: To provide affordable, safe, and high-quality housing opportunities where residents have access to services and resources that allow them to reach their full potential.

Since 1951, the Ypsilanti Housing Commission has been providing affordable housing to the citizens of Ypsilanti. YHC properties are a place that residents are proud to call home. People of all income levels have viable housing opportunities in Ypsilanti because we exist. We find strength in the deep history that lives on in our communities.

We operate 342 housing units across the south side of Ypsilanti. We partner closely with EMU’s Family Empowerment Program to ensure that all YHC residents have access to full-time social workers providing wraparound services that are intended to improve quality of life and help our residents realize and achieve their goals.
