Who We Are
Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation (BPNDC) is a 501c3 organization that serves the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood of Detroit through grassroots programs and services that meet the needs and desires of local residents. Established in 2013 by McDougall-Hunt resident, Katrina Watkins, BPNDC began with the idea of removing blight and beautifying vacant lots. However, the energy that inspired the first projects motivated Katrina to persist, leading BPNDC to evolve over time into a growing organization that encourages and supports neighborhood pride and development, while empowering residents to create change for themselves and their community. Today, BPNDC is supported by resident engagement, community partnerships, and a strategic and sustainable framework that will transform this low-density, low-income pocket of Detroit into a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood. BPNDC’s vision includes single-family homes, maintained green space and parks, and a community Hub that supports ongoing growth and development, including programs and services for youth, seniors, and low-income families. The following mission, vision, and organizational goals guide BPDNC as it moves forward:
