Who We Are
Mission: To support the loving, responsible care of all animals in our community.
For more than 125 years, the Humane Society of Huron Valley has been serving the community, saving animals and helping people. HSHV is still the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County, taking in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Today, we help over 24,000 animals and their people through our array of services every year. HSHV is governed by a board of directors and is supported by generous individual and corporate donors.
What We Do
We are the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County that takes in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Each year we help over 24,000 animals and their people.
The goals of the Humane Education department are:
- Provide knowledge of HSHV’s mission
- Educate youth on humane treatment of animals and build empathy
- Encourage more support for HSHV with donations, volunteers, adoptions
- Decrease animal cruelty in our community
- Dispel shelter myths
