Who We Are
Mission: To enrich Washtenaw County through a legacy of affordable homeownership for families of low-income.
Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley was founded in 1989 to help need for affordable housing in Washtenaw County. The local chapter was created by a group of volunteers committed to strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Since the beginning, the organization has partnered with families and individuals who demonstrate need, willingness to partner, and the ability to sustain homeownership. Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley serves low- to moderate-income residents, which offers opportunities for affordable homeownership and home repairs, while building stronger neighborhoods and more exciting communities.
What We Do
Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley works to fulfill its mission by building and renovating safe homes for families with low to moderate incomes. They partner with future homeowners as they help build their own homes and attend homeownership education classes. In addition to new construction, they complete critical home repairs for existing homeowners to ensure that more families can live safely and securely.
The organization collaborates with a wide range of partners, including local businesses, faith-based groups, schools, and civic organizations, to fund projects, provide volunteers, and strengthen community impact. They also work with local governments and neighborhood associations to support larger revitalization, like improving parks, sidewalks, and public spaces. Through these, Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley not only provides housing but also helps the entire community, helping families achieve long-term stability!
