Washtenaw County is stronger when all people are able to fully participate in our community and economy. To that end, OCED is committed to stepping out of traditional government roles to drive long-term system changes that increase equity and opportunity. Informed by data and resident voices, we deliver services, invest resources, shape public policy, lead initiatives, and amplify the impact of community partners.
What We Do
Serving our community is at the heart of everything we do in the Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED), through programs and services that our passionate team of employees and volunteers provide, as well as in collaboration with numerous dedicated nonprofit organizations that the County funds. It takes all of us working together to strive to create long-term systems changes that increase equity and opportunity, by addressing poverty, racism, and trauma that are at the root of institutional inequities.
