Who We Are

Mission: Dedicated to economic and emotional self-determination of women, girls, and families.

The Women’s Center promotes self-determination for women and families by providing professional services that build confidence, strengthen connections, and create positive change. The Women’s Center is a major human service provider in the Washtenaw County area. We provide direct services to approximately 600 women and girls each year (and some men) and an additional 3,000 individuals benefit from the Center’s information resources and referrals to essential services (food, shelter, medical care, etc.).

Our vision is that women will identify and magnify their strengths to achieve full economic and emotional health. When women have the tools to assert their economic and emotional strengths, families and communities also thrive.

What We Do

The nonprofit Women’s Center provides therapy and other women-supportive services to help individuals achieve economic and emotional health. Our main focuses are to provide Counseling, Education, and Support.

Our core service is mental health counseling. We have 3 counseling programs for individuals who are un- or under-insured and also for those with commercial or public health insurance (Medicare and Medicare).

We offer groups for mothers and infants, women at the end of a long-term relationship, and for women interested in the financial and legal aspects of divorce or separation. In addition, we offer one-on-one career coaching or financial coaching. Our services help women rebuild their lives — often without a safety net of family, friends, or faith community.
