Who We Are
WCC is partnering with the U.S. Department of Labor to offer a YouthBuild program. YouthBuild is a program that is dedicated to young adults ages 16-24 with the focus of education, life skills and leadership. Students may earn their GED, obtain construction credentials, receive leadership training and have the opportunity to construct housing for low-income families in their community
What We Do
Program Features:
- 22-week program with no costs to participants
- Additional first year of support for career services and assistance with job placement
- In addition to training, participants supported with counseling and case management services
- Eligible participants may receive additional support through MI Works!
Program completers will attain the following:
- GED Completion
- OSHA certification
- Opportunity to earn construction credentials through the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER)
- Participate in construction of a new home for a low-income family in Ypsilanti Township as well as renovation of another low-income housing unit
- Leadership training
- Completion of community service projects
- And much more…
