Who We Are

Mission: We strengthen pathways to shared prosperity and drive community impact by providing innovative services, advocacy, and collaborative solutions for people and communities.

Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) is a Community Action Agency formed in 1964 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. OLHSA supports Oakland and Livingston County residents with removing the burdens of poverty by providing individually tailored, wrap-around assistance for all individuals and families in need of help.

What We Do

OLHSA supports individuals and families in Oakland and Livingston counties by connecting them with resources to improve their quality of life and promote self-sufficiency. Services are based on funding and local availability.

Our programs focus on five key areas:

  • Economic Security – Employment support, financial wellness, asset building, MI Bridges benefits assistance, and older adult programs.
  • Education – Early education services, financial literacy programs, community resources, and WIC nutrition support.
  • Emergency Assistance – Emergency housing, utility assistance, COVID resources, homelessness services, and water assistance.
  • Housing Support – Homebuyer and rental education, foreclosure and property tax counseling, veterans housing support, weatherization, and home repair services.
  • Health and Nutrition – Food and nutrition programs, health services, HIV services, and WIC support.

At OLHSA, we are committed to helping people build stronger, healthier, and more stable futures.
