Who We Are
Mission: To educate, guide, and nurture each child while supporting families and creating community.
Community Day Care (CDC) is a nonprofit organization rooted in Ann Arbor since 1972, committed to providing high-quality, play-based early childhood education and childcare. Founded by a group of parents advocating for accessible care, CDC continues to honor that legacy by serving nearly 400 families annually with a focus on equity, diversity, and community-centered care. We are governed by a board of current and former parents and community members who share our belief that every child deserves nurturing care, regardless of family income.
What We Do
CDC offers stimulating preschool, childcare, and before- and after-school programming designed to support the developmental needs of children while empowering educators and families. Our programs are led by experienced educators and supported by staff pursuing careers in education, and we maintain a strong commitment to professional growth and low staff turnover. Each year, we provide substantial tuition assistance to ensure equitable access to care and learning, and we invite community involvement through volunteering, board participation, and donations.
