Who We Are

Mission: To foster and promote awareness and interest in the need of a wholesome community. We organize and sponsor educational and recreational activities year around.

The NEYIC is a volunteer based community organization addressing the needs and concerns of youth in Metropolitan Detroit. NEYIC is a Michigan non-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. We are a volunteer-based community organization with the mission of addressing the needs and concerns of youth.

What We Do

NEYIC was founded over 40 years ago for the purpose of engendering a sense of values, hope, self-esteem, self-worth and self-respect in young people who live in the Detroit community known as the North End. In reality, though, the area serviced by the organization and its programs, especially the Adopt-A-Child Christmas Program, has no boundary. NEYIC’s efforts motivate, inspire and enhance the self-esteem of disadvantage youths and their families through mentoring, recreation/constructive play, drug prevention, and conflict resolution activities.
