Earned Paid Sick Time Ballot Initiative (Saturday Farmers' Markets)

Expired

Description

Join us in advocating for the health and wellbeing of all Michigan families by collecting signatures for the Earned Paid Sick Time Ballot Initiative! 1.6 million Michigan employees receive no paid time off, forcing them to choose between going to work sick, or sending their sick child to school, and losing a day’s pay. Choosing to stay home may mean being unable to pay for their housing that month or the cost of food for the week. Together we can ensure all of Michigan’s residents earn paid time off so no one has to make such a difficult decision.

The schedule of opportunities to collect signatures is as follows:

Saturday Mornings:

  • Eastern Market- 7 am to 4pm (2-3 hour shifts)
  • Farmers Market in Royal Oak- 7am to 1pm
  • Farmers Market Plymouth- through Oct. 28 7:30-12:30
  • Mt. Clemens Farmers Market through Nov. 18 7am-1pm
  • Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market- through Nov. 4 9am-2pm

You will be provided with background information on the ballot initiative, petitions, pens, and clipboards. Before participating in this advocacy opportunity, you will be sent a link to a webinar which will discuss the ballot initiative, United Way for Southeastern Michigan’s participation in signature gathering, and the do’s and don’ts of signature gathering. Please select your date below and contact Cassie Hare at Cassie.Hare@liveunitedsem.org to indicate what location you would like to volunteer! If you are no longer able to participate in the shift you register for, please contact Cassie at 989-274-1102.
