United Way for Southeastern Michigan is recruiting volunteers to participate in several career days hosted at local high schools. Career days expose students to a variety of available career pathways and display the education, skills, credentials and prior experience required to be successful in the field.
Thirty (30) representatives are needed to volunteer at West Side Academy of Information Technology and Cyber Security (4701 McKinley, Detroit) in the areas of information technology and cyber security who can share industry trends, education, and various paths into the field.
Professionals will talk with high school students on their expertise, give an overview of the job market and outlook for careers in information, technology and cyber security. Additionally, we ask that professionals share with students the education, job skills, credentials, prior experience, and 21st century power skills required to be successful in the field. Parking, light continental break and modest lunch will be provided to guest.
Volunteers should bring the following items to represent their companies:
- Table Overlay (with company/organization logo)
- Branded Collateral to share with students (enough for 200-400 students)
- Each organization will be given a 7ft rectangular table to share amongst the attending professionals
