Today, 275,000 children who rely on free and reduced-price school lunches are out on summer break. Through the Summer Food Service Program, children can continue to get their meals for free at summer food sites throughout Michigan called Meet Up and Eat Up. United Way for Southeastern Michigan is putting on block parties this summer at some of these Meet Up and Eat Up sites to help raise awareness of this resource for families, and we need your help! These parties could not be a success without the help of volunteers, who are needed to assist United Way for
Southeastern Michigan staff in creating a warm and welcoming experience for block party guests.
Volunteer roles include:
- Greeters & Monitors –Greet block party guests as they join the fun and monitor children.
- Activities & Game Leaders –Lead games and hands-on activities with children. Activities could include face painting, book distribution & reading station, arts & crafts table management, etc.
- Welcome Center & Distribution Support – assist United Way staff at the welcome center and community partner stations as needed.
