Zootopia Day of the Young Child - Brightmoor

Expired

Description

Zootopia, celebrating Day of the Young Child, is a day to celebrate what it is to be a young child! This is to help young children and families celebrate the innocence of children as well as learn and grow through relationship building and social-emotional learning. Zootopia is a day of peace & love, where all living things live in harmony. We are bringing children of all ages together with animals of various species to encourage our children to learn from all animals on earth. Zootopia is promoting a day filled with active learning and an up-close (but socially distanced) experience with exotic animals usually only seen on television or in movies. Champions Of Hope are providing exotic animals for the event as a collaborative effort. The goal of our Zootopia program is to build community with the families of young children living in and around Brightmoor, as well as create a fun day of active learning for both children and parents.

Volunteers, please be advised this is an in-person event, and you will be assisting site staff in running 1 of 6 interactive stations for young children. The stations include:

  • Word Scramble
  • Arts & Scraps
  • Lifesize Connect 4
  • Family Jenga
  • Animal Fun Facts
  • “About Our Site” Scavenger Hunt
  • BD Fun Facts

This event runs from 10 am to 3 pm, and there are two available shifts to sign up for. Shift 1 is from 10 am to 12:30 pm and shift 2 is from 12:30 pm - 3 pm.

Brilliant Detroit In-Person COVID-19 Volunteer Guidelines

All in-person volunteers must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Please either provide us with proof of vaccination before coming to volunteer or when you arrive at the event.

We recommend that you wear a mask when volunteering, especially when indoors, as some community members are not yet vaccinated. We will have masks available if you would like one.

If you are experiencing a fever, any symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19 anytime between signing up to volunteer and the volunteer event itself, please contact us. We will ask you to fill out a short form confirming that you have not experienced any symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19 when you arrive to volunteer.

Please wash your hands after touching your face and before and after handling food or program materials. Please avoid any unnecessary contact with any individuals (participants, staff, other volunteers).

Some volunteer events may include food. At this time our food policy is as follows; shared meals will be limited. Food can be prepared and taken home to eat, but consuming meals together is prohibited.

Note that the policies above are subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves. We will notify you of any significant changes. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. Our top priority is the safety and health of all Brilliant Detroit constituents.

Please reach out to Faith Harris at fharris@brilliantdetroit.org with any questions.
