The Ribs R&B Music Festival is coming to Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit August 11-13 and we are looking for volunteers to share important information with festival attendees, all while enjoying music and a festive atmosphere.
Volunteers will be stationed at the Detroit Community Care Network (DCCN), Wayne Health, United Way for Southeastern Michigan booth passing out information, engaging festival goers to visit our booth, encouraging attendees to scan a QR code and take their FREE personal health risk assessment, and helping with hosting guests in our spaces. Agency staff will be onsite to provide all necessary information and training.
The event is a family friendly entertainment and food event that is attended largely by African Americans. We are attempting to create our event within the Ribs R&B Festival event. We are there promoting our work to save lives and help build a healthier community. Tri-Unity CDC and its partners DCCN, Wayne Health, UWSEM have an initiative to close the gap of African Americans dying 5-15 years earlier than our white brothers and sisters here in neighboring communities and it's mainly due to heart disease and hypertension. So we are promoting knowing your risk factors by taking a health risk assessment and then linking individuals with resources and services to help them where needed.
Volunteers can help out Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday, with volunteers shifts taking place from 12pm to 4pm and 4pm to 8pm each day.
