First Response Shadowing (9am-5pm shifts)

Expired

Description

In order to begin working directly with survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking during on-call shifts, volunteers must complete First Response shadowing.

  1. All First Responder (FR) volunteers will sign up for a minimum of two (2) on-call shifts in which they will shadow and train under a staff advocate or an approved FR volunteer trainer.
  2. First Responder volunteers must continue to sign-up for training shifts until they have completed the minimum two call requirement. Staff will accommodate any request from volunteers who request additional training/shadowing shifts.
  3. The Director of Crisis and Volunteer Services/Program Director will have the primary responsibility of monitoring and evaluating volunteer’s proficiency as it relates to providing crisis intervention services. Staff Advocates and Volunteer trainers will provide feedback and insight as it relates to their direct observations and interactions with volunteers on training shifts.
  4. Once FR Advocate completes the minimum number of training shifts, the Director of Crisis and Volunteer Services/Program Director and volunteer will process and determine the volunteer’s readiness to come off of orientation and respond to cases on their own. Volunteers, who are ready to take cases on their own, will have an assigned back-up staff person who provides administrative oversight, support and assistance on every shift the volunteer signs-up for from this point forward.

Volunteers can select what day/time they prefer to be on-call. Once selected, the volunteer will be added to the on-call calendar and provided with any additional information.
