Elms Family and Community Services (EFCS) is seeking 2 volunteers to serve on its Finance Committee. This is a volunteer (unpaid) role. The Finance Committee is overseen by the Board Treasurer.
EFCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, located in Macomb County, Michigan. We service youth, families and individuals in the City of Detroit, Macomb County and the surrounding community. We aim continuously to provide services, resources and support that will enable under-represented families, individuals and youth to overcome social, economic, educational and other barriers in which they face by gaining and sustaining successful outcomes in life. We do this through our support services, programs and community projects.
Summary of Role: The Finance Committee is primarily to assist in providing financial oversight for the organization. This includes budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or accounting or a related field.
- 3+ years serving in a financial capacity or supporting financial planning and related activities for an organization. Experience in a nonprofit is preferred, but not required.
- Experience serving in a Board of Directors role is preferred.
Commitment:
Successful candidates must be available to attend monthly Finance Committee meetings for approximately 1-2 hours.
Term: This is a 1-2 year term position.
